In Iran, this music is illegal. Playing it can mean prison, or worse.
TRIVAX played it anyway.
Formed in Tehran in 2009 by frontman Shayan, the band staged rare underground shows under constant threat before he relocated to the UK. There he joined forces with drummer M. Croton and bassist Sully (exiled from Syria for the same reasons). Their story was later featured in the BBC documentary In the Studio.
Now based in the United Kingdom and signed to Osmose Productions, TRIVAX play Iranian Death Metal - a fusion of ferocious death and black metal with dark Middle Eastern atmospheres. Themes of rebellion, religious oppression, revolution and real-world darkness drive the music.
Since relocating, the band have built a solid live presence, performing in over 58 cities across the UK and continental Europe, and continue to operate with ongoing tours and festival appearances. Latest album: The Great Satan.
