Make Your Own Gilded Glass Art — Verre Églomisé Workshop

In this hands-on 2.5-hour workshop, you'll discover the magic of working from the back of a sheet of glass, building your artwork layer by layer until an atmospheric antique-mirror effect is revealed.

You'll begin by painting your own design onto the glass using specialist waterproof glass paint. You might create a moody little landscape, windswept branches, delicate birds, trees, or your own simple drawing.

Once your painting has dried, you'll learn how to prepare the glass for gilding and apply your choice of imitation gold or silver leaf to the entire surface.

The result is something quite magical: from the front, your painted design appears suspended within an aged, reflective metallic surface, giving the finished piece the feeling of an antique mirror, old treasure, or something discovered in a forgotten cabinet of curiosities.

And because you work from the back, the finished image is gradually revealed as each layer is added. You don't quite know what the final piece will look like until you turn the glass over.

A completely finished gilded glass art panel, ready to frame, hang or display in your home.

You'll have a choice of:

• Imitation gold or silver leaf
• Several example designs to inspire you, including landscapes, trees, branches and birds
• Or you can create your own simple design

I'll demonstrate each stage and guide you throughout, so you don't need any previous experience with painting, gilding or glass.
