Grian is Frasan / Sunshine and Showers is a collection of 150 poems presented in both Gaelic and English. Rooted in the lived landscapes of South Uist and Seil, these poems trace a journey through childhood, memory and belonging, where sea light and Atlantic weather shape voice and vision.

Here, nature and nurture move in quiet conversation. Belief and language are tested against tide and wind. Love, in its many forms, unfolds with tenderness and restraint. The cadences of the old Gaelic tradition are present throughout, yet subtly refreshed by the distilled clarity of Japanese and Chinese verse.

Angus Peter Campbell is an award-winning novelist, poet, journalist, broadcaster and actor. He was born and brought up on the islands of South Uist and Seil. He attended Oban High School where his English teacher was Iain Crichton Smith. His novel, Memory and Straw, won the Saltire Society Fiction Book of the Year 2017, and his second crime novel, Constabal Murdo 2, won the Highland Society of London Prize for Best Fiction Book at The Gaelic Literature Awards in 2022.

BBC broadcaster and book reviewer Cathy MacDonald will be chairing this event.
