Лекция посвящена знаковым произведениям из коллекции Музея искусства Санкт-Петербурга XX-XXI веков. Мы узнаем об истории их создания, интерпретации сюжетов, мировоззренческих позициях авторов. В живописных холстах и графических листах Петербург предстанет в романтическом, реалистическом, мистическом и метафорическом свете. Глядя на запечатленные художниками архитектурные и скульптурные памятники, мы убедимся, что все они наделены живою душой, способной по-человечески переживать, вместе с нами радоваться и страдать. Однако не только городской пейзаж станет предметом нашего внимания, но и портреты исторических личностей, чьи судьбы переплетены с этим городом. Имена Александра Пушкина, Николая Гоголя, Ивана Тургенева, Дмитрия Шостаковича, Кузьмы Петрова-Водкина известны всему миру, поэтому их скульптурные и живописные образы также следует рассмотреть. В контексте перечисленных вопросов, мы поговорим о составе нашей коллекции, выставочных проектах, художественных процессах, которыми было затронуто искусство прошлого столетия, а также коснемся художественных практик, существующих в настоящее время.

Description in English:
This illustrated talk in Russian is devoted to iconic works in the collection of the Museum of XX-XXI Century Art of St Petersburg. Olga Tolstaya will discuss the history of their creation, how to interpret their subjects, and their authors' world views. In these paintings, drawings and prints, Petersburg appears in a romantic, realistic, mystical and metaphorical light. Looking at the architectural and sculptural monuments captured by the artists, we are convinced they possess a live spirit, human feeling, and can be happy and suffer together with us. However, the talk will not only focus on the cityscape, but also on portraits of historical personages whose fates were bound up with Petersburg. The names of Alexander Pushkin, Nikolai Gogol, Ivan Turgenev, Dmitri Shostakovich and Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin are famous throughout the world, therefore the talk will consider their images in sculpture and painting. Finally, Olga Tolstaya will discuss the Museum’s collection and exhibition projects, the artistic processes that affected art of the last century, and artistic practice today.

Speaker biography in Russian:
Ольга Толстая – искусствовед, куратор выставок, историк, преподаватель, сценарист. Окончила Санкт-Петербургский государственный университет, исторический факультет, преподавала в Санкт-Петербургской государственной художественно-промышленной академии имени А.Л. Штиглица на кафедре искусствоведения и культурологии, работала арт-директором художественной галереи «Стекло Российского вузовского дизайна», работала во Всероссийской государственной телевизионной и радиовещательной компании, является автором фильмов: «Верхом, в карете и пешком», «Дворянские усадьбы», «Древние крепости» и др. В настоящее время работает заведующей выставочного сектора Музея искусства Санкт-Петербурга XX-XXI веков, куратор крупных художественных проектов: «Амазонки в веках», «Зеркала и зазеркалье», «Импрессионизм в советской живописи», «Портрет художника», «Анималистика. В шутку и всерьез» и др.

Speaker biography in English:
Olga Tolstaya is an art historian, exhibition curator, historian, teacher and screenwriter. In her career she has been a Lecturer in the Art History and Culturology Department of the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, Art Director of the Russian Academy Design Glass gallery, has worked for the All-Russian State Television and Radio Company, and been the author of several films, including ‘On Horseback, In a Carriage and On Foot’, ‘Estates of the Nobility’ and ‘Ancient Fortresses’. She is currently Head of the Exhibitions Section of the Museum of XX-XXI Century Art of St Petersburg where she has curated many major art projects, including ‘Amazons Through the Ages’, ‘The Looking Glass and Through It’, ‘Impressionism In Soviet Painting, ‘Portrait of the Artist’ and ‘Animalist Art: In Jest and In Earnest’.

The talk is arranged by the SCRSS in partnership with the Interregional Association for International Cooperation, St Petersburg, a non-governmental organisation. The speaker appears in a personal capacity.
