Sip, Sing & Paint: Diwali special Musical-Mandala workshop
Come spend a creative festive themed afternoon sipping, painting, singing, jamming and making something together✨
Sip, Sing & Paint brings together mandala art and music for an afternoon designed to get your creative juices flowing, help you slow down, meet new people and have some unapologetic fun.
We’ll begin by painting our own mandala designs on a 6-inch round MDF (a type of wood) board - something you can keep as your own little masterpiece or gift to someone you love this Diwali. All materials will be provided - just bring your creative self.
And while the paint dries? We sing 🎶
We’ll move into a relaxed group singing and jamming session, by creating a song together with lyrics inspired by the colours, patterns, words, ideas and feelings that came up through our artwork.
No pressure to be “good” at art. No pressure to be a singer. You don’t need to have done either before.
Whether you’re someone who hasn’t picked up a paintbrush since school, sing exclusively in the shower, or have years of creative experience - you’re very welcome.
Come as you are. Leave with your artwork, a song we’ve made together, and hopefully a few new friends too❤️
Please note: This is a BYOB event.
What is a Mandala?
The word mandala comes from Sanskrit and means “circle”. Mandalas are circular designs built through repeated shapes, patterns and details, and they appear in different forms across a number of artistic and spiritual traditions.
You don’t need to know anything about mandalas to take part.
The process of building a design slowly, one pattern at a time, can be wonderfully absorbing. Repetitive patterns can encourage focus and give us a chance to slow down and spend some time away from the usual rush of everyday life.
In this workshop, we’re approaching mandala painting simply as a way to create, experiment and enjoy the process - there’s no perfect mandala and no artistic experience required.
What Can YOU Expect?
- Paint your own Diwali-inspired mandala artpiece - all materials to be provided
- Explore colour, pattern and your own creativity
- Sing and jam together while our artwork dries
- Write a song collaboratively, with lyrics inspired by the art we’ve created
- Try something creative without the pressure of having to “get it right”
- Meet new people in a relaxed, welcoming setting
- Take home your hand-painted art piece - or gift it to someone you love
- Plenty of laughter, conversation and creative experimentation along the way
Who is it for?
Everyone.
Beginners, curious first-timers, art lovers, bathroom singers, experienced musicians and professional artists are all welcome.
You don’t need any previous experience in painting, singing or songwriting. The workshop is designed so that you can participate at whatever level feels comfortable for you.
