This webinar will outline the design and implementation of TransportAPI's new national bus prediction service, which will operate alongside NextBuses.
The ‘NextBuses – powered by Transport API’ service is operated under brand license agreement with Traveline. NextBuses uses LTA source data managed and provided by Traveline combined with data that TransportAPI has sourced directly from LTAs and operators.
Since the majority of bus stops in Great Britain have predictions from Nextbuses, TransportAPI's new national bus prediction service has been introduced to fill the gaps, especially in rural areas. A crucial component of the new national bus prediction service will be the data quality process that validates the cross-referencing between NaPTAN, TransXchange and the SIRI-VM available for each route. Details of this process will be covered in the webinar.
This webinar will be of interest to central and local government officers with responsibilities for strategic transport planning, bus service improvement plans (BSIPs) and operational management of public transport information. It will also be of interest to bus and train operators and to data consumers building apps or presenting bus information on screens.
The speakers will be Professor Jonathan Raper and Dr David Mountain of TransportAPI who are leading on the national bus prediction service and who have nearly two decades of experience in delivering bus real-time information (RTI) including tracking, prediction and archiving of bus journeys, with an introduction from Julie Gray Chief Executive of Traveline Information Limited.
