Lead Ranger: Elspeth Scott Mobile: 07721 023915

We are delighted to be working at a new private site which is part of an exciting project where we are working with multiple landowners to connect up Duke of Burgundy Butterfly Colonies accross the Dagnall Area.

Transport & Address:

The post code will get you close. But you need to use What 3 Words https://w3w.co/shallower.gossip.hothouse . This will take you along Main Road North out of Dagnall and turn you left on to the lane at the Fairview Farm Lollipop Like Sign. Go along along the track, pass the farm on the right and keep going to Wardscoombe. It is at the end of the track.

Please can we ask everyone to arrive on time to ensure you do not miss the health & safety and task briefing. If you are late and the session has already started, you may not be able to join. Thank you.

You don't need to print off your Eventbrite ticket!

We love to involve children and young people in our sessions but we do not provide 'child care', so we need different levels of parental support according to the age and needs of the young person, so If you are booking a ticket for anyone under 18, please read and follow our Under 18 Policy here.

The Task:

Today we will be doing a mix of tasks, cutting and raking the grassland, planting patches of scrub and cowslips then protecting them with deer netting to enhance the habitat at Wardscoombe and make it an attractive stepping stone for the Duke of Burgundy to spread!

Timings (please note these timings are approximate):

10.30: Arrival for safety briefing, please don't be late!

12:15 Lunch, Tea & coffee break

12:45 Continue planting

15:00 : Aim to finish, time to go home! Thank you!

What to bring:

Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.

Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.

Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain.

Please bring plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.

Please note:

Biscuits are served at all Chiltern Rangers sessions. Please advise if you have an allergy.

Sometimes there is a need for us to use power tools that can be noisy.
