WHAT MAKES A MONSTER - Strange Cases - Waterstones Worthing
In this talk and Q&A, author-illustrator Riotbones traces the figures of Filipino horror across the country’s history
Who are our monsters, and why have we created them in the first place? In this talk and Q&A, author-illustrator Riotbones traces the figures of Filipino horror across the country’s history, from the mountains of the Cordilleras, the plains of Central Luzon ravaged by decades of agrarian conflict, and the bustling streets of Manila to examine various folk figures and myths, interrogate what horror says about our collective consciousness, and showcase how this research led to the creation of Strange Cases, their debut gothic horror-legal drama graphic novel that seeks to flip these myths, and the conventions of the genres, on their heads.
As always there will be plenty of drinks and snacks available, this time we'll be having some authentic Filipino baked goods!
