We know that as inequality rises or falls, our communities areimpacted across the spectrum; people in more equal societies live longer, have better mental health and have better chances for a good education, regardless of their background. The Equality Trust

This lecture will emphasise why you, and others like you, are key to the fight against inequality.

We are pleased to announce that the Annual Richard Wilkinson Lecture will be held on the evening of Tuesday 7th December. This year&#x27;s lecture will be delivered by campaigner and author of &#x27;The Fight Against Inequality and Why That Fight Needs You’, Ben Phillips, alongside TET affiliated local groups and young equality campaigners. The lecture will be held virtually via zoom, from 7.00 - 8:30pm. Why the fight against inequality needs you: The pandemic laid bare and exacerbated the inequalities we know make this country a worse place to live for everyone. This lecture will emphasise why you, and others like you, are key to the fight against inequality. This is an amazing opportunity to be inspired by, and inspire, others to take action.To reflect our new strategy and values of co-production and sharing power, we are joined by guest speakers involved in activism with The Equality Trust. This will include Dan O&#x27;Mara outlining how he is building community power in Birmingham, working alongside our Local Groups Organiser, Emma Marks. We will also be joined by some of the young activist artists who developed Who We Are, Who We Aren’t - featured in The Guardian, shown at the Tate Modern, shortlisted for a campaigning award, and now with a two month showing at the Pitzhanger Gallery. By hosting this key event virtually we hope to have many of our supporters and local activists joining to hear from our speakers, as well as sharing their experiences of the past year, whilst continuing to raise awareness of our shared goal to dismantle structural inequalities.
