Clinical Psychologist and a `Group Work Practitioner of Group Analysis.I have particular interest in depth psychology - both  Jungian and Group Analytic.The workshops I run often are exploring stories and myths in groups as a way to creatively connect and examine individual and collective psychology; providing a choice of teaching spaces, seminars and groups where people can reflect on life.The reflective spaces I provide can be either “here-and-now” events where participants study what is going on in the moment, paying particular attention to unconscious dynamics and looking at the group-as-a-whole, rather than intrapersonal or interpersonal dynamics. Or events, where the group is invited to reflect on their experiences regarding a particular piece of material: such as a group discussion on a piece of literature, or, a participant sharing a work situation to be thought about together as a group.It is not unusual that learning is transformational in terms of how participants look at themselves, their roles, their groups, and organisations they are part of.These reflective spaces are for anyone wanting to experience in action how through the group‘s discussion, meeting our reactions, our connection to symbols, imagery and association along the way, we might enable each other to better understand ourselves, each other and some of the personal and collective stories we all live.Unless explicitly stated for a specific event, no particular background or experience is necessary to participate.

A space to encourage reflection for questions on social conscience in our work as psychologists/ therapists in private  practice.

Working in the NHS as a psychologist or psychotherapist offers the hope of working in alignment with a social conscience. However, the chronic underfunding of the NHS coupled with uncontained large group dynamics and relentless shifting political climates has left a common experience of burnout and pockets of toxic work environments. As such, some clinicians have sought alternative work outside of government institutions. For those of us who moved fully or in-part to private practice for these reasons and still wish to prioritize social conscience in our work, specific questions are then posed in terms of the type of service offered, the payment structure we use, who gets to access help, alongside questions in general about if/how psychological work in private practice can be socially conscious. This workshop is an introduction to holding space for these questions: bringing in reflexivity to how we explore the ethics alive in our practices.This is an online reflective practice space. There is a minimum 4 and maximum 12 spaces.WORKSHOP OUTLINE:Following introduction and hellos (approx 10 minutes) to connect and meet each other in our zoom room, there will be a presentation (approx 35 mins), and then the majority of the space will be taken up by group reflection (approx 75 mins). The focus of the presentation is introducing these four themes: • Power and privilege in mental health services and what it means to be a reflexive practitioner in private practice. Including addressing the binary of private practice vs social sector work. • A reflexive stance for social conscience and trying-to-be Decolonizing in our private practices. • Money, Sustainability &amp; the Politics of Self-Care. The importance of seeking out others: resisting isolation, burnout and building community.• Working sustainably by focusing on creativity. Dates and Timings of the session: Saturday 29th January 202210:00 am - 12:00 noonWho is this event for?This event is most suited to any qualified psychologists/ psychotherapist or mental health practitioner (such as clinical psychologists, counselling psychologist, psychotherapists psychiatrists, cbt therapist etc ) who work with psychological health in private practice, either full or part time. Those who are considering (either pre-qualified or qualified clinicians) moving to private practice are very welcome.
