The White Review Short Story Prize Party 2021

THE WHITE REVIEWis an arts and literature journal, with triannual print editions and new weekly online content. The magazine launched in February 2011 to provide ‘a space for a new generation to express itself unconstrained by form, subject or genre’, and publishes fiction, poetry, essays, reviews, interviews with writers and artists, and series of artworks.The White Reviewis a registered charity (Charity Number: 1148690).

We’re excited to be celebrating the winner of the 2021 White Review Short Story Prize, sponsored by RCW, at Reference Point on 2 December. This year’s prize was awarded to RZ Baschir for ‘The Chicken’. On behalf of the judging panel, Preti Taneja said that the story ‘announces her as a brilliant new talent.’Join us for short readings, followed by drinks in Reference Point’s bookshop and bar space. The prize awards £2,500 to the best piece of short fiction by a writer resident in Britain &amp; Ireland yet to secure a publishing deal.Previous winners of the prize were Claire-Louise Bennett, Ruby Cowling, Owen Booth, Sophie Mackintosh, Nicole Flattery, Julia Armfield, Vanessa Onwuemezi and Elizabeth O’Connor. This year, the prize was judged by Preti Taneja, Laurence Laluyaux, Tamara Sampey-Jawad, and Skye Arundhati Thomas.
