A digital talk by Jennifer Browning, University of Leicester Archaeological Services

Jennifer Browning from ULAS who will be talking on The Rutland Roman Villa Project. This will be the first chance to hear about one of the most exciting local excavations since the discovery of Richard III, an extraordinary Roman mosaic discovered beneath a field in Rutland. The mosaic is the first example in the UK displaying scenes from Homer’s The Illiad, and one of only a handful from across Europe. It is considered one of the most remarkable and significant Roman mosaics ever found in Britain. The talk will be delivered via Zoom. The talk is FREE but booking is essential. Tickets are available until 5.30pm on the evening of the talk. A link will be sent to attendees after 5.30pm on the day of the talk.
