Would you like to use more video for marketing your creative business, venue, as educational resources or digital exhibitions? Video is the most popular content type today, even moreso than before the pandemic. It can show a different dimension than photos or text alone, so is a must-have skill for artists, groups, charities and venues.

This 4-week course on Wednesday evenings with our Marketing Officer will cover:

Looking at your existing ideas or content, before some ideas generation based on your brand or story.

Then, concentrating on working on one video/type for learning purposes, we will think about your key business aims, storyboarding, your "story" arc and arrangement.

We will mind map creative ideas as a group in collaborative discussions, then look at how to create audio and how Canva can help us to add animated text and organise content for Videopad or similar video editing software which you will then be walked through and can ask questions about and have a go on yourself.

We'll then share our creations to discuss feedback and next steps together or create a digital place for sharing feedback and ideas.

We'll be concentrating more on you, and a Live, collaborative way of teaching how to use the software. We won't be covering social media app video creation this time, but the concepts and processes are much the same, and you'll have the skills to create a high quality video that can be usedon the big screen too, that can hopefully be transferred to other types of video making and increase your confidence making video generally.

This course will be run on Zoom. We will provide a link to join closer to the time.

You will need to have access to video software for the relevant sessions. You could get a demo just before the second or 3rd sessions or buy a full suite. We will email options nearer the time. Videopad is in our opinion very affordable and what Lucie will be demo'ing but there are others. iMovie is free with Macs. Windows Video Maker (Photos) is not sophisticated enough for our purposes.

Course Outline and Dates

Week 1 - 18:30-20:00 April 27th - In this session we will look at your aims / Storyboarding / Arrangement / Story arc. We'll look at a few video types, do some mind mapping and generate ideas based on your brand or story.

Week 2 - 18:30-20:30 May 4th - Audio, creative ideas, Canva clips and organising for Videopad etc.

Week 3 - 18:30-20:30 May 11th - Videopad editing and exporting.

Week 4 - 18:30-20:00 May 18th - Sharing, peer feedback and next steps.
