This session will help you understand how advocates use the Mental Capacity Act to ensure empowerment and protection of individuals

Connected Voice Advocacy works across the North East of England to support people to be heard and fight for their rights.This session will give an introduction to the Mental Capacity Act, which applies in England and Wales, how advocates use it and how it might apply in your role. This session is open for anyone to attend but is particularly useful for:<ul><li>Anyone working with people who may have fluctuating capacity due to permanent or temporary cognition such as substance misuse, brain injury, medication or mental health conditions</li><li>Anyone making decisions on behalf of others</li><li>Anyone support people to make decisions or plan their care needs</li></ul>It will cover:<ul><li>the basics of the Mental Capacity Act</li><li>the principles of the Mental Capacity Act</li><li>how the Mental Capacity Act may impact on your role</li><li>how advocates use the Mental Capacity Act to both ensure empowerment and protection of people</li></ul>Not eligible for this session but still interested in attending? We offer bespoke training covering a range of topics. Our sessions can be delivered online using Zoom making them ideal for organisations based across England.
