Nature-based Self Care series

I am a heart-centred nature-based therapist, facilitator, and artist. I have a wealth of experience with children aged 2-18 in schools, community, and charity settings, including 6 years supporting autistic children. I also volunteered as an art therapist with adult refugees and asylum seekers for a year. My approach is rooted in my love of the animate earth and our interconnectedness with all beings.My deepest desire is to facilitate connection at a heart level within ourselves, with eachother and the natural world. The aim of which is countering and healing the predominantly separatist, individualistic, isolating patterns prevalent in modern society. I believe this separation is at the root of many current global issues, the biggest of all being the climate emergency. Dangerous misconceptions that we can plunder resources without impact to ourselves and other species, that there is an 'away' where we can throw waste, that we are not fundamentally dependent on a livable earth for our very survival. Thus my drive to heal this rift is strongly linked to my passion for environmental issues.

3 part series. Nature can enhance self care, ease stress, anxiety, depression. Breathwork, mindfulness, relaxation, creativity, journaling.

This is a 3 part series over 3 weeks, each session builds on the last, so participants are kindly requested to commit to all dates (see below). Ticket price is for all 3 sessions.Unpacking how nature connection can resource us at a much deeper level. Exploring the qualities and gifts offered within natural symbolism, cycles and seasons and the benefits of attuning to and responding to these in our everyday lives.Throughout our journey we will explore ways to ease stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, and generally support your wellbeing.***It doesn't matter if you can't access outdoor space for the Zoom calls. A window can provide a vista of sky to explore, or you could connect with a favourite potted plant, use your imagination, or let photographs help you access a time in memory when you were in nature.Kim is a HCPC registered Art Therapist and nature-based mindfulness guide. She has previously worked in primary schools, forest school early years provision, and as a support worker with autistic children.Session 1: ReflectionWinter is traditionally a time of inner reflection, pause and slowing down, in some ways mirroring our recent global lockdowns. In this session we take time for ourselves, to reflect and to discern what no longer serves us and could be released. What losses need acknowledging individually and collectively?​Session 2: PresenceGathering the above, honoring our journey and our present - wherever and however we are. Accepting with love things we cannot change and identifying smaller shifts we can make. What do we wish to retain and bring forward into our present/future? What seeds have we planted and wish to nurture?Session 3: UnfurlingPreparing to move forward. Creatively visioning the seeds that are unfurling within us and within the wider world. What are our intentions, hopes, dreams and how can nature help us honor and sustain these?These sessions will be a co-created experiential group journey including:- Gentle breath-work, - Sensory awareness meditations, - Nature connection experiences, - Storytelling, - Creative exercises, - Journaling and sharing in groups/pairs. There will be invitations to do activities between sessions when on your daily walks or in an outdoor space you can access easily.DATES (please attend all dates, the ticket price is for all 3 sessions):Session 1: Sat 26th March 15:30- 17:30pmSession 2: Sat 2nd April 15:30- 17:30pmSession 3: Sat 9th April 15:30- 17:30pm***Whilst the hope is that these sessions will in some gentle ways ease stress etc from the perspective of self-help, this is NOT therapy. I do also offer nature-based art therapy. If you are suffering from physical or mental health difficulties this is not a replacement for conventional medical support and medication. Please always see your GP as your first port of call.
