The Officers' Association (OA) has secured a corporate membership with The Leaders Club, a networking group that meets in London. This will allow up to 5 serving or former officers from the OA community to join their monthly networking events. In 2016 it was announced that BBC in-house production would launch as a new, wholly-owned commercial subsidiary of the BBC; it would launch as BBC Studios. The trade off was that it would lose guarantees on being able to make programmes for the BBC – including some programmes it had always made – but it would now be able to make programmes for other broadcasters both here in the UK and around the world. And it would make them in an increasingly competitive, lightning-paced, commercial environment. The company needed to change to be able to survive and thrive in a new landscape – and change fast. And, since then, it has also been announced that – on its one-year anniversary – BBC Studios would merge with BBC Worldwide; bringing together the BBC’s television production and sales & distribution into one single commercial company: BBC Studios. At this event we are joined by Anna Mallett, Chief Operating Officer of BBC Studios, and HR Director Jabbar Sardar to share with us how they did – and continue to do – just that…
