Glass-House Chats: Building relationships through design and placemaking

The Glass-House Community Led Design is a national charity dedicated to connecting people with the design of their places, and connecting design with people. For over two decades, we have supported communities, organisations and networks to work collaboratively to shape buildings, spaces, homes and neighbourhoods.The Glass-House sees design not only as a tool for creating great places, but also as a way to connect people and empower them with enhanced confidence, skills and a greater sense of agency. We provide hands-on support and training, share knowledge and learning, and inspire new thinking and debate through action research, events and resources.

The Glass-House Community Led Design

Glass-House Chats are one-hour themed sessions for an informal chat about engaging communities in design and placemaking.

One of the key differences between a standard consultation event and a more engaged and inclusive design process is the quality of the relationships that you can forge with those who take part. Effective design engagement and building relationships with people and organisations can help you convert participants from commenters to collaborators, champions and partners. Not only is this a means of more meaningfully empowering people in the design process, but also an important strategy to ensure the long-term management and enlivenment of the places you are shaping. New relationships forged through a design process can also help build local networks and social capital that endure long after the delivery of a single project.    This Chat will consider the why, how and when of relationship-building through design and placemaking and explore the opportunities and challenges associated with developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with diverse partners, stakeholders and user groups. 
Please be aware that when signing up;
There are limited spaces for each event, with a maximum of 10 attendee spaces.
No shows without notification will be excluded from future sessions, please let us know with 48 hours notice if you're no longer able to attend the event.
We may document the event by recording the session and taking screenshots. These captures will not be made public.
