Jaywick Martello Tower was built in the early nineteenth century to protect the coastline from French invasion. Today, it is open to the public as an arts, heritage and community space. The Tower hosts a varied programme of exhibitions and events.

Join Lisa Temple-Cox for this workshop where we will learn the fast way to shape light and dark values on a canvas. The technique is simple: once the canvas has been covered with a solid layer of dark paint, a cloth, cotton bud or brush can be used to bring back the white of the canvas. This method creates beautiful tones and shading and can be used for any subject matter. A selection of natural history objects will be provided to work from, or you can bring your own resource material or images.
