Behind the Black Veil: The Horrid Mysteries Inspiring Northanger Abbey with Dr Sam Hirst

This talk takes us through the Gothic background to Jane Austen's 'Northanger Abbey'. We'll be using 'Northanger Abbey' as a road map to the early Gothic. Using the infamous 'Horrid Novels', we'll explore some of the lesser known facets of the Early Gothic and challenge some of the misconceptions!All our classes are free so that anyone can come. However, to keep to project going, we do ask that if you can, you use the donate function to support us. Between £1-10 per talk is very kindly appreciated!
