The Case for Culture: What the North needs to rebuild, rebalance and recover

With the promised Levelling Up White Paper around the corner, there is no better time to launch our milestone report on what the North needs to rebuild, rebalance and recover and place Northern culture at the heart of the Government’s levelling up agenda. The Northern Culture APPG’s Levelling Up Inquiry gathered a significant body of evidence from across the North on why culture is key to boosting skills, creating equal opportunities, promoting diversity, reducing regional inequality and empowering future generations. We received written and oral evidence from over 100 artists, creators, actors, musicians, Parliamentarians and political and cultural leaders across the North including; Dan Jarvis MP, Mayor Tracy Brabin, Ian Wray and Sacha Lord, BBC, Creative Industries Federation, Creative Fuse North East, Future Yard and 20 Stories High. Our oral evidence sessions can be watched here and we will be in touch early in the New Year with further details of the event and an embargoed copy of the Executive Summary of the report. We greatly look forward to you joining us for the launch of this important report on the case for Northern Culture.
