She has a background in ecology and experience of helping people connect with nature.She offers forest bathing and nature connection activities in and around Bedfordshire. Connecting to nature in this way can have a relaxing and restorative effect, reducing stress and blood pressure, and helping us feel more creative and productive. Treat yourself to a guided forest bathing experience and immerse your senses in this beautiful woodland this winter.

Rushmere Country Park (Stockgrove entrance)

Join me for a guided forest bathing experience this winter - a chance to slow down, tune into nature and recharge among the trees.During this gentle walk, you&#x27;ll be guided on a sensory journey to awaken your senses, connect mindfully with nature and explore what the season brings in this beautiful woodland setting. The walk ends with a chance to reflect on our experiences with a warming cup of herbal tea. Words that participants have used to describe how they feel at the end of a walk:“peace.. ” “stillness.. ” “magical.. ” “deeply relaxed..” “happy..” “part of something much bigger.. ”What is forest bathing?Shinrin yoku (translated from Japanese as &#x27;forest bathing&#x27;) is the practice of slowing down and immersing ourselves in the atmosphere of the woodland. It originated in Japan in the 1980s, where it was introduced as a national health programme. Research from Japan and elsewhere has shown that forest bathing has many proven benefits for our health and wellbeing. Immersing our senses in nature in this way can have a relaxing and restorative effect, reducing our blood pressure and stress levels and improving our energy levels, concentration and memory. It can even help boost our immune system. After forest bathing sessions, participants have told me:“ I thoroughly enjoyed it and I certainly relaxed during the session. It was a great way to unwind and de-stress ..““I found it very therapeutic, it was very relaxing and de stressing..&quot; &quot;In the days after the session, I felt more energised than I had in weeks...”The walks<ul><li>Sundays (9.30am - 12 noon) - 16th January and 20th February</li><li>Weekdays (10am - 12.30pm) - Tuesday 18th January and Wednesday 9th March</li></ul>Each will take place in a small group of up to 5 participants, creating an intimate and relaxed experience. The walks are suitable for those new to forest bathing and to those with some experience. I hope you will be able to take away with you some practices in nature to use to continue to support your wellbeing.Each walk costs £20.I am a trained guide in forest therapy and shinrin yoku, with a background in ecology and sustainability. During the walk I will guide you in a series of invitations to help you immerse yourself in the woodland atmosphere and experience some of the benefits of forest bathing. Rushmere Country Park is one of my favourite places. Where the walks take placeThe session take place in Rushmere Country Park, which is a wonderful site with mixed woodland, meadows and heathland on the Greensand Ridge in Bedfordshire.Our walk will start at the Stockgrove entrance of the Country Park, which has a car park, toilets and cafe. This can be found on Brickhill Road, Heath And Reach, LU7 0BA. Please note that you will need to pay for the car park - details are here - https://www.greensandtrust.org/parking-at-rushmereTerrainForest bathing is a very gentle form of exercise, requiring a moderate level of fitness. It will be taking place outdoors in the natural woodland setting of Rushmere Country Park, which has trip hazards, slopes and uneven ground.The session can involve slow walking, standing and sitting on the ground. Please contact me before booking to discuss any mobility issues.What to bringPlease bring clothing suitable for the weather, including an extra layer or two - in case you start to feel cold while moving slowly or sitting - plus a bottle of drinking water.You will be invited to sit during the session, so please bring along something lightweight to sit on, such as a sit mat or blanket.Please leave your pets at home. The sessions are for people aged 18 and over. Forest bathing can be experienced and enjoyed in most weathers - including light rain. In the event of extreme adverse weather - including high winds or storms - you will be offered an alternative date. Please do not come along if you have any symptoms of covid or have tested positive to covid. If you or I are not able to attend due to covid, your ticket can be used on a walk at a later date.A refund will be offered if you cancel up to 72 hours before the start of the event (minus the Eventbrite booking fee).
