A space for sharing knowledge and campaigns on local inequality issues and concerns

The Equality Trust Workshops are an opportunity for TET affiliated groups and supporters to come together and hear about pertinent issues relating to inequality. Reflecting together to raise awareness and plan/share campaigns locally on issues that are important to you. This months&#x27; theme is tax justice. Tax justice sits at the centre of a fair and sustainable future for the UK and beyond. The tax system has a crucial role to play in tackling our vast wealth inequality, shaping the climate transition, and funding the decent public services that we all rely on. This session will explore what role you can play at a local level to raise awareness &amp; campaign for change. For too long, tax has been kept in the realm of ‘experts’ and officials. But for change to occur, we need the public to take a stand and demand a fairer system. Guest speakers include: Sara Hall from Tax Justice UK will talk about why we need tax justice and how we might get there. Mary Patel from the Fair Tax Foundation will introduce the Councils for Fair Tax campaign and how you can get involved.Cllr Martin Pearce will outline how local campaigners encouraged Exeter City Council to adopt the Councils for Fair Tax Declaration and why the council wanted to get on board.The workshop takes place during Fair Tax Week, a UK-wide recognition of the companies and organisations that are proud to promote responsible tax conduct and pay their fair share of tax. Join us in promoting tax justice by using #CelebratingFair, the week will highlight events and provide a platform to explore the positive contribution corporation tax makes to society.
