Volunteer at our breathe-easy school project in Edinburgh

Groundwork is the community charity with a green heart. We are working nationally and locally to transform lives in the UK's most disadvantaged communities. We're passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny and no-one is held back by their background or circumstances. We help people gain confidence and skills, get into training and work, protect and improve green spaces, lead more active lives and overcome significant challenges such as poverty, isolation, low skills and poor health.

We need 10 enthusiastic volunteers to help bring the breathe-easy schools project to life at a local primary school in Edinburgh.

South Morningside Primary School

Schools are depending on their outdoor areas more than ever before as they continue to deal with the pandemic to provide outdoor learning and education to children. But many schools are located near busy main roads with no barrier, opening them up to air pollution that can cause lasting effects on the children that go there.

That’s why Balfour Beatty are working with Groundwork and raising funds to create natural pollution barriers in primary schools in the areas where employees live and work. And we need your help. We are looking for 10 enthusiastic volunteers to get hands on and bring this project to life at local primary school, South Morningside Primary School in Edinburgh. You will be getting stuck into a range of tasks including digging and planting green barriers around the school, installing new species to increase biodiversity, mulching and watering to help this wonderful school become more resilient to the pollution in the air surrounding it. Please secure your place by completing your details in the registration and we will be in touch closer to the date of your volunteering with a detailed briefing about your day including location, parking, facilities, activities, timings and clothing requirements.Thank you so much for your support and we can't wait to make an impact with you.
