Leading and Managing Teams is part of a series of workshops designed to support the recently released online Managers toolkit.

Target Audience: All staff (Academic and Professional Services) with or taking on management/leadership responsibilities.The ability to motivate and engage is a key factor in effective management and leadership, and critical to an organisation’s success.Motivated people have a positive outlook, they&#x27;re excited about what they&#x27;re doing, and they know that they&#x27;re investing their time in something that&#x27;s truly worthwhile. They are also highly adaptable, particularly when it comes to change.Teams are made up of individuals who have their own unique circumstances, backgrounds and experiences. Consequently, each person may be driven by different motivating factors, and be more or less adept at self-motivation.This workshop will explore the different types of motivation and ways to create a working environment in which team members are motivated and engaged.Learning Outcomes:<ul><li>The different types of motivation</li><li>The value of employee engagement</li><li>Your role as a manager or leader in fostering a motivated mindset</li><li>Strategies and tips for tailoring your approach to motivation.</li></ul>Please register using your Sussex email address (e.g. ab123@sussex). A link to join the session will be emailed to you the day before the event.Late cancellations that leave places empty have considerable cost implications for the University and take away the opportunity for other staff members who might wish to attend. Given this, a late cancellation fee of £50 will be charged to your School or Division if you cancel your booking within three days of the course start date. Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel your place by emailing od@sussex.ac.uk.
Exceptions may be made for illness, evidenced by your line manager or doctor&#x27;s note, or a family emergency. We are happy for you to substitute your place if you notify us before the course commences.
