Join Jenny Mason, Assistant County Archivist (Collections Management), to find out about some of the wonderful Women’s Institute archives held at West Sussex Record Office.We’ll be looking at the history of Women’s Institutes in West Sussex from the formation of the earliest WI in England at Singleton and East Dean in 1915 through to the key role the WI played in both World Wars and their ongoing efforts to promote better homes, better communities, and better agriculture locally, the historic mission of the WI.See some of the documents that tell this story, including beautifully illustrated and decorated scrapbooks, and uncover the important part the WI have played in West Sussex and beyond. The talk will last up to an hour, with an opportunity to ask questions via the chat box.
