TheatreNI and Dance Resource Base have merged successfully to become a new, stronger support agency for theatre and dance in Northern Ireland called ‘Theatre and Dance NI’.

This session is part of Theatre and Dance NI's series of expertly led masterclasses  that focus primarily on professional development.

Having gained a deeper understanding of contract law and practice, this session will examine the communication and personal skills needed to negotiate effective contractual relationships. It will offer an opportunity to put theories and techniques into practice playing to your own personal strengths and building confidence.Who is this course for?This course is for anyone who has to negotiate contracts in their work. Starting with basic principles, it will help both those who are new to this topic and expand for those wishing to refresh their knowledge and improve their skills.ApproachThrough the trainer’s presentation and group discussions and exercises, these two online sessions will offer a demystifying explanation of the basics of contract law and discuss the soft skills needed to be a confident negotiator. There will also be opportunities to ask questions and share your own experiences. "The interactive nature of both sessions- I was concerned it wouldn't work well over zoom but it was great, and pushed you to put what you had learned into action. I also liked how open the sessions were with a 'no stupid questions' policy." TrainerCharlotte Jones is Chief Executive of ITC. She trained as a lawyer and has many years’ experience of negotiating contracts and representing ITC and its members to funders, supporters, politicians, the press and media, development agencies, and the wider creative and cultural sector.ITC is the management association representing the independent performing arts sector.This session will be held via zoom.
