The University Graduate School is dedicated to supporting University of Birmingham’s postgraduate researcher (PGR) community. Fostering cross-college, interdisciplinary communities and acting as a gateway to support and advice. We work closely with the other University support services to ensure our postgraduate researchers have access to a high quality experience.

<h3>The University Graduate School supports postgraduates at the University of Birmingham. We offer a variety of academic, social and wellbeing activities throughout the year, as well as career development opportunities. Our monthly PGT social event ‘The PGT Café’ brings PGT students together from across the University of Birmingham. Look out for our other events in our <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/pgt-events-2021-2022-30769" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">PGT Events 2021-2022 Collection</a>!</h3>Join us in the Mermaid Bar, 3-5pm, to meet your fellow postgraduate taught (PGT) students. Whether you are part-time, full-time, a commuter, live near campus, join us for coffee and cake at the end of your working week and get to know your postgraduate community. All welcome!We'll have some informal, optional games to help break the ice, and a range of snacks and drinks on offer. Come for the whole two hours or drop in and out. See you there!Please note:<ul><li>We want everyone who attends the social to feel comfortable and relaxed, and will therefore ask that all attendees wear a mask when moving around the space, unless they are exempt.</li><li>If there is space, we are happy to accommodate extra attendees on the day, but to ensure your place please book ahead. If you are unable to attend for any reason, please cancel your place so that someone else can take it.</li><li>Catering available will include vegan, gluten free and Halal food options, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. If you have any other dietary requirements or concerns, please get in touch with Elizabeth (e.r.oconnor@bham.ac.uk).</li><li>Please do ensure that you are taking regular Lateral Flow tests in line with university guidance. If you test positive, show COVID-19 symptoms or need to self-isolate over the event, please cancel your place so that it can be used by someone else.</li></ul>PGT Essentials welcomes students starting the following postgraduate courses in 2021-22: MA, MSc, MBA, MEd, LLM, MPH, Maths SKE, MPA, PG Affiliate, PG Certificate, PG Dip Ed, PG Diploma, and PGCE.
