How can public bodies become more effective at working in partnership with the public? In this event, we’ll invite members to consider how to enrich and expand public engagement as part of ongoing transformation for the post-pandemic years of economic and societal recovery ahead. Over the past few years, several social and political movements have demanded change from the government and the re-allocation of political power away from Westminster. ‘Levelling-Up’ has given impetus for a re-consideration of citizen engagement in government, public service and more. Empowering citizens to meaningfully engage with democracy is gaining increasing popularity. Matters of devolution, local government and participatory democracy hope to encourage different segments of the public to regain a sense of agency over policies that influence their lives.Civil Service Reform and Places for Growth Strategy is anticipated to impact the places where public bodies operate and how, timely then to consider changing relationships with public.In this event, we’ll consider; how can public bodies become more effective at working in partnership with the public?This event will be held at the Institute for Government. Online streaming will be available to those who are unable to attend in-person.
