Imagine sipping tea and chatting to the CEO of BP, Ocado or HSBC. What would you say? Each year, the boards, directors and shareholders of the biggest companies come together at a company&#x27;s Annual General Meeting (AGM) to make decisions about that companies’ future. With just one share, you can go along to an AGM and ask a question. ShareAction’s network of AGM activists go along to the AGMs of the biggest companies and challenge them with carefully crafted questions about the biggest issues facing people and planet: climate change, workforce issues and health. Companies have held AGMs a little differently since COVID-19. Some opted for a behind closed doors AGM - allowing a limited number of attendees - and some for a virtual AGM, where questions are either pre-submitted, or asked live in a virtual setting. This year, we expect some AGMs to be held virtually, whilst others may return to being in-person. To ensure we continue to hold companies to account, we’re preparing for both! Companies shape the world around us, and our money – <a href="https://shareaction.org/savers-resource-hub/pension-power-what-world-is-our-money-building" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">through our pension</a>, insurance, or other savings – props up the biggest companies. Companies rely on our money being invested in them, so we think our voices should be heard. We can show you how to use your influence to change poor company practices through a single question. AGM activism is a winning tactic that has helped secure lots of campaign victories: <ul><li>50 of the UK’s 100 biggest companies are now Living Wage accredited employers. There were only 2 when we started asking AGM questions about this in 2013; </li><li>Tesco, BT and Vodafone have committed to using 100% renewable energy </li><li>AGM questions contributed to BP pulling out of their plans to drill in the Australian Bight in 2016 </li></ul>We have two AGM activism training sessions coming up, on the <a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/262438178657" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">6th April (12-1:15pm)</a> and the <a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/262564697077" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">7th April (5-6:15pm)</a>.
