We'll compost some kitchen scraps in 4 weeks.Organic amendmentsThe main reasons why organic growers give up is because they can't control aphids caterpillars and mildew. One of the main aims of Korean Natural Farming (KNF) is to empower the subsistence farmer, care for the soil, soil microbes, deter pests and grow nutritious food without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. Soil Microbes are able to sequester carbon from the atmosphere and tie it up underground. They also make a huge difference in the quality and nutrition of vegetables and fruit, in some cases by a factor of 10 or 15. Amendments are straight forward to make, don't smell like a latrine and the majority are shelf stable. Combination of amendments can be used in a watering can, or spray. They can effective at reducing mildew and mould, reducing slug and snail damage and feeding the plant the 'right' combinations of N P K (nitrogen, phospherous and potassium).
