The Rainbow Butterfly Online Family show in Utwopia with Ella Mesma Company

Ella Mesma Company is a British based dance theatre company drawing upon a diverse range of folkloric dance styles to create highly-skilled theatre. Much of the company’s inspiration is borne out of the Company Director’s diverse training in Afro-Latin, Breaking and Contemporary dance, as well as the diverse skills that each individual company member brings to Ella Mesma Company.

Performance of our new children's show The Rainbow Butterfly in our online world Utopia

This performance, funded by Arts Council of England with support from PDSW, Kala Sangam, Yorkshire Dance and Dance City has been created in response to these different times, as a symbol of hope for a young audience.This online adventure takes place in Utwopia, a world built by Bryan Aldea and the imagination of Ella (and artists) and with illustrations by Jessica Rosas.Here you will meet live artists, find hidden answers, discover opportunities to connect and move, and experience an online show. You will be met by your hosts in a utwopian world for a fully remote experience that you can access from the comfort of your own home. Bring a drink and a snack, for an informal sharing online in a very creative space. Join in as much or as little as you like, but celestial voice will be your tour guide, and call you back to let you know about scheduled moments within the show. We&#x27;ll talk you through joining the networking spaceHOW TO NAVIGATE UTWOPIA:There is ambient sound in vTogether which is personal to you - headphones ensure a great experience, without headphones higher volume can result in feedback for other guests or mixed sounds which isn&#x27;t fun. When you first go in, you&#x27;ll be asked to grant permission for your browser to use your camera and audio - there&#x27;s help below if you have any problems with this. If you still have zoom/teams/skype open you won&#x27;t be able to do this, so please just make sure they&#x27;re closed first. You can get in on a phone or android tablet (iPads are not currently supported) but you will miss out on some of the key functionality, desktop/laptop is much better and strongly recommendedThere will also be a post show talk where artists would love to hear some of your thoughts so far in our first ever online sharing of the work.ABOUT THE SHOWThe Rainbow ButterflyMaja has a big imagination and would LOVE to be a Rainbow Butterfly and fly all the way to the Moon!Inspired by the four stages of transformation in the lifecycle of the butterfly, this interactive children’s piece tells the story of a non binary person who would love to be a butterfly.
