Help raise funds for South Cumbria Rivers Trust by walking the Leven Estuary in South Cumbria.

South Cumbria Rivers Trust (SCRT) are an environmental charity aiming to protect, conserve, and rehabilitate the lakes, rivers and becks of South Cumbria. We cover 2300 km of watercourse and 28km2 of still water and includes all catchments that drain off the Lake District fells into Morecambe Bay. These include the River Kent, River Leven (including Windermere), River Bela, River Crake (including Coniston Water) and the River Duddon.Through this walk, across the Leven Estuary from Sandgate (Flookborough) to Chapel Island, you will be helping raise funds for our charity and support the vital work we do to protect watercourses in South Cumbria.Tickets are £16 for an adult and £6 for a child. (Minimum age is 6 year old, unless carried by parent) Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead when on or near the marsh land. Dogs cost £1 each and this will be collected on the day of the walk.Raymond Porter, Guide over Sands Trust guide, will guide you safely on this spectacular 4.5 - 5.5 mile walk across the sands. The walk lasts between 2.5- 3.5 hours long but walkers are expected to arrive around 1 hour prior to the start time to ensure you register your arrival with SCRT (we need to inform the coastguard). SCRT team members will be wearing SCRT branded tops and there will be a designated station for registration. Raymond will start his briefing at the designated start time of the walk and explain the walk in detail. Both him and his team will be wearing bright yellow t-shirts, so you are sure to spot them. Please note, all walkers must walk behind Raymond at all times.Toilets are available at the start and finish, as the walk ends back at the starting point. The best way to arrive is by car and there are car parking facilities available at Sandgate. To get there, you turn onto Main Street in Flookburgh and then drive straight over the hill until you reach Sandgate.
