The Melanie Klein Trust was founded on 1st February 1955 to promote training and research in the psychoanalytic theory and technique adopted and practised by Melanie Klein.  The primary objects of the Melanie Klein Trust are:- To further and promote training and research in psychoanalytic theory and technique as adopted, developed and practised by Melanie Klein and ‘developments thereof’.- To publish, promote and encourage the publication of books, articles, pamphlets, and papers which are based upon or may further the contributions to psychoanalytic theory and technique made by Melanie Klein.- To promote clinical work in psychoanalysis based upon the theory and and technique of Melanie Klein.- Generally to secure the furtherance and development of theory and technique of psychoanalysis adopted, developed and practised by Melanie Klein.- To do all this in any part of the world.

Leslie Sohn’s psychoanalytic contributions to understanding violenceCarine Minne will introduce some of the key contributions made by the psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Leslie Sohn, particularly in working with patients who have been extremely violent. Sohn assessed, treated and supervised hundreds of patients in his 62-year career in the British National Health Service and he revolutionised the thinking around violent behaviour in mentally disordered offenders and in particular, the apparently inexplicable and often bizarre violent acts carried out by mentally ill patients. Lydia Chambers will present current clinical vignettes from her work to illustrate the continuing relevance of his ideas. Carine Minne - is a member of the British Psychoanalytical Society and a consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist, with extensive experience in working with violent patients at Broadmoor High Security Hospital. She is President of the International Association for Forensic Psychotherapy and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Forensic Psychotherapy. Lydia Chambers -is a member of the British Psychoanalytical Society and a consultant at the Maudsley Hopsital where she runs an acute psychiatric inpatient ward. She has training and experience in general medicine, older adult psychiatry, medical psychotherapy, perinatal psychiatry, community general adult psychiatry and acute inpatient psychiatry.This event will be chaired by psychoanalyst, Emma Staples Hotopf Everyone who registers will receive a link to a recording of the event a few days afterwards, which will be available to view for one month.We are holding these events together with and in support of 10 Windsor Walk, a satellite site of the British Psychoanalytical Society linked to the Maudsley Hospital, where many Kleinian analysts have developed their work and their ideas.---------------------------------------Note: The Melanie Klein Trust is a charity, and we rely upon income from events like these to continue our work.
