In Real Life: The story of the Dulwich Picture Gallery  in WW2 and Bell House's role in the restoration of the pictures by Dr Johannes Hell

Hell&#x27;s Bell&#x27;s - a talk by local historian Brian Green at Bell House.The extraordinary story of the fate of Dulwich Picture Gallery and its world class collection of Old Master paintings during WW2 has never been fully told before. Nor has the account of the restoration of the paintings by Dr Johannes Hell, an expert on Rembrandt, which was undertaken at Bell House in College Road between 1945-47.Brian Green will also talk about the rebuilding of the Gallery and the role of Sir Gerald Kelly, President of the Royal Academy as a champion of Dr Hell&#x27;s work while at the same time decrying the radical methods used at the time at the National Gallery.Half price tickets available to people under 30 and bursary tickets available by emailing info@bellhouse.co.uk.This talk is in-person and is the same talk online on 25th May 22.

We would ask you to read the following guidelines for your visit.•	If you or any of your group have any symptoms of COVID-19, or have been diagnosed with the virus, you must not attend the event;•	We have reduced participant numbers to enable social distancing.•	We encourage you to wear a face mask (unless you are exempt) when moving around the house;•	We would ask you to take a lateral flow on the day of the event you are attending;•	We aim to increase ventilation in the rooms, so some outside doors may will be open on arrival; we suggest you wrap up warm as the house is likely to be cooler than usual;•	Hand sanitiser will be positioned at various points in the house;•	We will have a list of people who have booked so you do not need to print off your ticket;•	We will hold your contact details which you provide via Eventbrite and we may pass them onto to NHS Test and Trace if required, in accordance with government advice.•	You will of course receive a warm welcome from our volunteers, and we look forward to seeing you at your event.
