Leicester Media School: The Impact of Impact on Women Scholars

As part of the Leicester Media School and the DMU UCU Women's Group events around International Women's Day, this 'impact of impact' talk considers the impact specifically upon women academics of the misogynist social media abuse women scholars can receive in response their research 'going public.'Hannah Yelin (Oxford Brookes) and Laura Clancy (Lancaster) will join us via MS teams to talk about their own research in this area and also about their own experiences as the focus of negative media and public attention as a result of their research.Hannah and Laura's intervention will be directly followed by a further half hour of discussion including members of DMU from media, Health and Life Sciences and Criminology, on how the effects of negative media and public attention and how they can potentially be mitigated/have been mitigated for staff at DMU.The event will be held on Wed 27th April, 1-3pm &amp; will be held face-to-face in Queens Building, room 1.12, with the option to join online (link will be sent via email)THIS EVENT WILL BE RECORDEDAny queries, please contact Dr Ellen Wright at ellen.wright@dmu.ac.uk
