Chester Visual Arts are pleased to announce the launch of their annual Lecture Series Talks. This years’ series is hosted by Dr Cathy Pütz and titled Radical Times, Radical Change. The second lecture is given by renowned curator, Colin Wiggins, who will draw on his work at the National Gallery and other institutions to provide insight into inclusion and the programming of contemporary responses to historic collections.Refreshments will be available on the night. About Colin WigginsColin Wiggins began his career in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum before moving to the National Gallery in 1981, where he became Head of Education and Special Projects Curator. It was in these roles that he developed the Gallery’s programme of working with contemporary artists and was responsible for the Associate Artist scheme, inviting artists such as Paula Rego, Peter Blake, Ana Maria Pacheco and Michael Landy to become involved in the life of the Gallery and to exhibit their work there. During his time at the National Gallery, he also curated exhibitions of work by artists such as Frank Auerbach, Bridget Riley, Lucian Freud, Sir Anthony Caro, and most recently, Sean Scully. He has many publications to his name and has lectured widely in Europe and the USA.
