Workshop for directors and writer-directors based locally to Southampton.

BFI NETWORK South West have teamed up with City Eye to offer this new workshop for directors and writer-directors based locally to Southampton. We will be joined by Hampshire based writer-director, <a href="http://www.lotushannon.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lotus Hannon</a>, who is currently in post-production with her BFI funded short film RE-LIVE. Lotus will talk through her journey as a writer-director via talent development schemes, past funded shorts and TV directing experience. Exploring the key pivotal moments in the development of her directorial voice and how she communicates her intentions to funders, producers, agents, and other collaborators. There will also be an opportunity to explore your own voice as a director or writer-director with your peers in a group-based exercise.We have designed the content of the session to best suit directors or writer-directors who have previously made at least 1-2 short films, who are not already supported via full time education and who are potentially interested in applying to <a href="https://network.bfi.org.uk/short-film-funding" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BFI NETWORK Short Film Funding</a> when it re-opens on 14th March. The session is open to those living in Southampton, Portsmouth, Hampshire and Isle of Wight. It will take place in person at City Eye’s Studio 144 in Southampton and participants will be required to travel to the venue. BFI NETWORK South West will be able to offer a select number of travel bursaries for anyone who need financial support in order to travel from Southampton, Portsmouth, Hampshire or Isle of Wight to the venue. Please outline this in your application in the provided field – receipts will need to be provided after travel has taken place. Similarly, we can also offer access bursaries for anyone who needs additional support to access this event, for example a BSL interpreter, support worker etc. Please outline this in your application in the provided field. There are Blue Badge parking spaces directly at the rear of the venue building 50 yards from the main entrance. The building is entirely wheelchair accessible, with lifts to all floors. Accessible Toilets are on ground and first floors, and all toilets are gender neutral.The booking is free and managed on a first come first served basis, if you meet these requirements:<ul><li>Writer-director or director living in Southampton, Portsmouth, Hampshire or Isle of Wight (you will be asked to provide a postcode to determine eligibility)</li><li>Have already made at least 1 or 2 short films previously</li><li>Not in full-time education</li><li>Over the age of 18</li></ul>Please book a ticket to reserve your space.
