The University of Liverpool’s Institute of Irish Studies and the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies at the University of Notre Dame&#x27;s Keough School of Global Affairs in association with Unreal Cities is pleased to present Beckett: Confined, a three-day festival of Samuel Beckett’s plays, associated musical performances and lectures.Ghost Trio is a television play written by Beckett in 1975, its three &#x27;acts&#x27; reflect Beethoven&#x27;s Fifth Piano Trio, known as The Ghost because of the slightly spooky mood of the second movement, Largo. The passages selected by Beckett are from the &quot;ghostly&quot; second theme. In addition the Fidelio Trio will be performing pieces by Schubert, another of Beckett&#x27;s favourite composers.Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) was one of the 20th century’s most celebrated playwrights and authors, winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969.
