You Decide NCIL (£2m) &amp; Brent Health Matters Projects (£250k) - Wembley Decision Day Event

This is the first time Brent Council is using Participatory Budgeting to put the community at the heart of decision-making and empower residents to decide (VOTE) how council cash will be spent to benefit the community.Named You Decide, £2million will be divided equally amongst the Brent Connects areas of Willesden, Harlesden, Wembley, Kingsbury and Kenton, and Kilburn. Residents will be asked to take the lead in submitting project ideas that will improve local communities while focusing on physical improvements through the You Decide: Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy fund (NCIL).Alongside this £2million fund, a further £250K will be available through the Brent Health Matters, £50K will be available for projects focused on health and wellbeing that will be delivered in one Brent Connects area to support their local community,About the Decision Day eventLocal residents from each Brent Connects areas will hear from organisations and businesses directly as to why their project is needed! These events will be participatory days where local residents will vote to decide which projects, you wish to fund across each programme to benefit your local community in Wembley:<ul><li>Brent Health Matters - residents will allocate who is awarded funds from the £50,000 grant.</li><li>You Decide NCIL (Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy) - residents will allocate who is awarded funds from the £400,000 grant.</li></ul>For this Decision Day event, we are encouraging residents who live in Wembley to participate in the local decision making process by attending the in person event.You will need to register to attend one or both of the Decision Day events. You can only attend the event in the area that you live in.Please note that this event was rescheduled from Saturday 9 July and will take place over two days.You Decide NCIL will now take place on Tuesday 12 July from 4:30pm where we will hear from organisations who have applied for this grant fund.You Decide Brent Health Matters event will now take place on Wednesday 13 July from 4:30pm where we will hear from organisations who have applied for this grant fund.Only Brent residents aged 18 and over will be allowed to vote. Decision Day Event Agenda<ul><li>Entry - 4:30pm</li><li>Project presentations from 5pm</li><li>Announce successful projects at the end of each event</li></ul>Decision Day Dates for each Brent Connects area:•	Harlesden Decision Day event will take place on Saturday 16 July 2022 •	Kilburn &amp; Kensal Rise Decision Day event will take place on Saturday 18 June 2022•	Kingsbury &amp; Kenton Decision Day event will take place on Saturday 25 June 2022•	Wembley Decision Day event will take place on Tuesday 12 July for You Decide NCIL event and Wednesday 13 July 2022 for Brent Health Matters event.•	Willesden Decision Day event will take place on Saturday 2 July 2022 Participatory BudgetingParticipatory Budgeting (PB) is a proven method of enabling local people to come together and decide on the allocation of money to benefit the community.PB will follow these steps:•	Criteria for spending the pot of money is set•	Ideas and proposals are submitted by eligible local groups, organisations, businesses or individuals (depending on the criteria) via an application process•	The community comes together on ‘Decision Day’ to vote on which projects are fundedYou Decide: NCIL (Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy) We are looking for community-led projects, which address the impacts and supports the ongoing development in the community by delivering a physical or social infrastructure project. Total of £2M is available. Each Brent Connects Area has £400k to enable projects to be delivered.A physical improvement project should aim to support the local community through initiatives such as improving or renovating a building or installing a new facility like a play area.A social infrastructure project should aim to support the local community through initiatives such as educational courses, support schemes or promoting community cohesion.This fund opened on 22 March 2022 and we are encouraging constituted organisations and businesses to apply before the application closing date on Tuesday 31 May 2022 at 23:59.For further information please visit: www.brent.gov.uk/neighbourhoods-and-communities/have-your-say/you-decide - youdecideEmail: youdecide@brent.gov.uk Brent Health Matters £250kThe goal of the Brent Health Matters Programme is to reduce health inequalities in Brent.Health inequalities are avoidable, unfair and systematic differences in health between different groups of people.Our shared programme will be looking to engage with the community on a number of wide ranging issues to reduce the health inequalities experienced in Brent.Brent Health Matters is looking for community led projects to support Health and wellbeing of local communities.
