Heritage leaders - what could your heritage organisation be doing around digital to meet environmental goals and tackle the climate crisis?

In this free online seminar designed for senior leaders of medium and large* UK heritage organisations, our speakers will share insight, ideas, experiences and strategies around leveraging digital to tackle the climate crisis. Join Claire Buckley, environmental sustainability expert from pioneering non-profit Julie’s Bicycle, Bridget McKenzie, Cultural consultant and environmental activist and Ruchir Shah, Director of External Affairs at the Scottish Wildlife Trust as they explore the role leaders need to play in understanding and leading change in this vital area of the heritage’s sector’s work. Throughout this series of six online seminars, through the lens of digitally literate leadership, we have showcased the powerful and far-reaching impact digital can have on the ways organisations achieve their missions and why it is so important that all heritage leaders feel confident and empowered when it comes to strategic decisions around digital. That informed and confident digital leadership is even more important when tackling the daunting and pressing challenge of the climate crisis as digital culture, technologies, behaviours and skills play such a key role in causing and tackling environmental problems. This session will cover both internal, infrastructure considerations such as the environmental impact of your heritage organisation’s digital footprint and the role external, audience-facing digital activity might play. We’ll take the strategic view and share case studies that put theory into practice. This seminar is the final one of six in a series called Leading the Sector 2022, which runs from March to September 2022. Each session focusses on a different aspect of digital challenge, change or opportunity that leaders of heritage organisations need to consider and act upon as we all move forward from Covid 19’s digital kickstart. We are now also taking bookings for our series of 6 in-person digital leadership workshops, being run as a roadshow across the UK. The workshops are designed to support heritage leaders to build their understanding of digital maturity. Find one near you.* by ‘medium and large’ we mean organisations ranging from 10+ FTE up to teams of several hundred.
