Writing on the Wallis a dynamic, Liverpool-based community organisation that coordinates projects and events that celebrate writing in all its forms. We work with a broad and inclusive definition of writing that embraces literature, creative writing, journalism and non-fiction, poetry, songwriting, and storytelling. Writing on the Wall works with local, national and international writers whose work provokes controversy and debate. We work with all of Liverpool’s communities to promote and celebrate individual and collective creativity.

The Writer's Bloc presents: Bloc Party, an end of residency celebration, with Ciarán Hodgers

Bloc Party!Join poet Ciarán Hodgers , as he reads from his Creative Response to his Writer on the Bloc Residency and hear from participants who have taken part along the way. This closing celebration event is a moment to reflect on the Writer On The Bloc residency, what the artists have learned, what the community and audience have developed or learned and what WoW staff have noticed and seen throughout the community-focused creative residency. You’ll hear from the writer’s Creative Response to the residency, an opportunity for them to put into words their thoughts on the experience, a reflection on what they’ve talked about with our community and summing up how they’ve worked with the community to develop their writing. You’ll also hear exciting new voices who have had their work looked over by Ciarán through the 1-2-1 sessions, and who will share the work they developed through the residency.Ciarán Hodgers is a Drogheda–born multi award-winning spoken word poet. His debut collection Cosmocartography (Burning Eye Books) was shortlisted for the Rubery Book Award 2019, toured the UK &amp; Ireland for 30 dates and was featured on national, regional and local press on both sides of the pond. Named “one of the region’s most exciting spoken word performers” by The Independent, he was named a highlight of Guy Garvey’s Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre London and a “powerhouse poet at the top of his game” by Lingo Festival Dublin.This event will be live streamed on YouTube.
