The Bethlem Gallery, established 1997, is situated on the grounds of The Bethlem Royal Hospital.Managed by a small, artist-led team, the gallery provides a professional space for high-quality artwork and fosters a supportive artist-focused environment.Exhibitions and events are programmed throughout the year presenting a wide range of mediums and contemporary practice. The gallery is an ideal platform for experimentation, collaboration and skills exchange. Collectively we strive to develop the careers, experience and expertise of the gallery artists by creating opportunities for professional development. Our successful artist-in-residence projects also work with patients and staff on site to improve people’s experience of the hospital environment.The Bethlem Gallery programme includes collaborations withBethlem Museum of the Mind, artists-in-residence, interdisciplinary research and partnerships with arts organisations across the UK and beyond. We campaign for access to the arts in healthcare environments and engage audiences in learning and debate on the subject of mental health and artistic practice.The gallery is free and open to all. Join artists Beth Hopkins & Dawn Kalu in creating mixed media paper sculptures

Join us to create mixed media paper sculptures inspired by the work of Bethlem Gallery Artist of the Month, Dawn Kalu. Dawn will be with us to share her techniques, influences and inspirations. We will be drawing and collaging figures, which we will then form into paper sculptures. You can see more of Dawn&#x27;s work on her Instagram <a href="https://www.instagram.com/dawn.kalu/?hl=en" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">@dawn.kalu</a> **Please note: This workshop will take place online and in person at Bethlem Gallery in a hybrid format. We want to create an environment where people will feel in the same room, whether they are joining the workshop online or are at the gallery in-person. To do this, we will have a video stream from the workshop room for the online participants to see what is going on and a screen in the workshop room for participants to see what is happening online. We will check people&#x27;s preferences on the day for whether their faces are featured or not. <ul><li>If you are joining us online, please bring along thick paper or thin card, pencils, pens and any other art materials you have at home. You will also need scissors, a stapler, masking tape and Pritt Stick. If you have plasticine please bring that too, or a jar or tin to lean your sculpture against. </li><li>If you are coming in person to the gallery, you will be provided with all materials.</li><li>No previous art experience is necessary. This workshop is suitable for children who are accompanied by an adult. </li><li>For online participants, this workshop will be held on video calling platform, Zoom. Details of how to join will be sent to ticket holders by email a few days before the workshop. If you are unsure of how to use Zoom then please contact info@bethlemgallery.com for support in accessing the workshop.</li></ul>About Bethlem Gallery workshops Under 16&#x27;s must be accompanied by an adult. Concessions are available for SLaM service users, people over 60, students, people receiving ESA, people registered disabled and their carers.
