We are the London branch of the national  Association for Language Learning. (ALL)  See ourwebsitefor full details and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.We organise regular London-based events throughout the year for local members to encourage close and sustainable networking between  people.  We are inclusive!  Although we strongly encourage people to join ALL which supports work done at a national level,  our events are open to all those who care about language learning, and we love it when people join us from other parts of the country (or the world!)Our local events  complement events organised at a national level.   An enthusiastic and lively committee plans the  events  as shown by the online diary.  Please  contact us for further information in any way which suits you best.

The event is organised by the London Branch of ALL (Association for Language Learning) and Joe Dale. We realise that this is very short notice, but hope that as many as possible can gather together to celebrate languages and technology! After an opening plenary from 10 - 10:30 when our own IT guru Joe Dale will kick-start the conference , there are four one-hour slots. We have done our best to ensure that there is something for everybody in each of the four slots, whatever the language, and whatever the sector.The last talk is followed by a Show &amp; Tell session to which everyone is invited to present.SPEAKERSWe are delighted to welcome 7 speakers, all of whom gave great support during lockdown. They are speaking as follows:Marie Allirot: &quot;App smashing and extensions for Genially&quot;David Binns: An opportunity to try out the newly-released version of ‘Sanako Connect’ and experience it first-hand.Joe Dale:1. &#x27;Tips and Tricks’[Opening plenary]The founder of our annual conference will kick-start the day with his top tips for all!2. Promoting an inclusive approach with tips on accessibility using technology. In this session, Joe will explore a range of tools which help all learners to access their learning e.g. Naturalreader, Immersive Reader, Helperbird, Word online + Immersive Reader and a range of tools which allow for closed captioning for videos.3. Practical classroom podcasting using Anchor . Bring your own device pre-loaded with the Anchor app[ or use the webtool. A Demonstration on how to create a podcast where delegates will have an opportunity to share their voices in an episode. By the end of the session you will have a step-by-step guide on how to do this with your own class.Julia Morris: A crime story for beginners. A look at a crime story that runs alongside the text book (school topic), using the new vocab in a more exciting way - with some puzzle ideas and planning steps.Adeline Moston: “Quick ideas for retrieval practice, revision or homework activities using Genial.ly, Learningapps and Flippity”Jérôme Noguès: Use Screenpal (Chrome extension) to help productivity and develop pupils&#x27; speaking skills;Use Microsoft Teams Reading Progress to help with pronunciation and fluency; Use Canva Edu to develop creativity skills: demo of 2 projects.Esmeralda Salgado: Giving students wings: developing fluency with Digital Tools. Including 	Creative and simple ways to de develop oral skills via digital tools (spinning wheel, Flippity, quizziz, Flipgrid) + Google Earth projects for creative reading leading to oral activities, Flipgrid, appsmashing with Google Earth and other apps, such as Flippity.SHOW AND TELLFrom 4.30 there is an opportunity for all to share ideas, techie or non-techie, at a relaxed &#x27;show and tell&#x27; when we eat up the leftovers from lunch and get a take-away pizza if needed! We usually end at about 6. Those who are staying on tend to drift to a pub in the evening.TICKETLESS ADMISSIONFor simplicity’s sake, we don&#x27;t issue any ‘tickets’ and you don’t need to bring any confirmation, email printouts or receipts with you on the day. It will allow you to take notes, try out resources as they are being shown by speakers, and share your thoughts and ideas on social media. Wi-Fi will be available and you will be given a personal login at registration. THE VENUEThe event is taking place at the Ashcombe School (Bradley Building, Ashcombe Road, Dorking, Surrey, RH4 1LY). If coming by train (a 50 minutes’ journey from London Waterloo or Victoria), the school is only a 3-minute walk from the station). If travelling by car, please access the school via the Croft Avenue entrance (directly off the A24, opposite Dorking station) and park on the signed court area (free parking). If travelling from further away, the school is 25 minutes away from Gatwick airport (direct train route). ACCOMMODATIONThere is a variety of accommodation available nearby, for example the Travelodge, the Mercure White Horse and the Lincoln Arms which is across the road from the school. There are links to accommodation on the Dorking Tourist site. Groups may find it cheaper to book with Airbnb or House Trip. As the school is immediately opposite Dorking main station and Dorking Deepdene, it would be easy to commute from stations on the same line - e.g. Leatherhead, Reigate, Redhill, Guildford.
