4600 Gifts - Ready Set Make!

Get ready to start making your gift for an athlete at the Commonwealth Games - book your place at one of these workshops!

4600 Gifts is an invitation to you, your friends and your neighbours to join in welcoming athletes to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.Together, we will make 4600 hand-embellished gifts, upcycling locally-sourced materials into messages of welcome, made with love in Brum. Join in one of our workshops hosted by St Germains Community Hub to turn a simple blank gift template into a one-off, beautiful object that will be treasured forever by our visitors from the Commonwealth Nations and Territories. You don’t need any crafting experience or know-how to take part; we’ll provide everything you need to wrap, knot and stitch. Your finished gift and personal message will be presented to a visiting athlete when they arrive for the Games in July.Your gift will carry a message of welcome from one hand to another, marking a special moment in time for Birmingham. We’d love you to be part of it!4600 Gifts is produced by Craftspace as part of the Birmingham 2022 Festival, generously supported by Arts Council England and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Ticket TimesEvery Friday from the 29th April to the 20th May you can book tickets for the following sessions:10.30 - 12.30pmFAQParkingThere is not a car park at the centre but there is on street parking available.Can children take part? This activity is designed for adults and young people aged 11 and above, children aged 9 working with an adult would be able to take part.Do I get to take anything home?As your item will be presented to a visiting athlete as part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games we are afraid you won’t be able to take it home. There will be a showcase at Birmingham Library 30th June -9th July that will be open to the public, to view a selection of the gifts and learn more about the project.Do I need any experience?You don&#x27;t need any special craft skills to take part as the workshops are suitable for beginners with craft, or for those who have more experience in working with yarn. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go.How long does the workshop last?We expect that it will take approximately an hour to an hour and a half to make your gift and write your message.Do I need to bring anything with me? Everything you need to make your gift will be provided.AccessWe are working to make our programme accessible; access details for this event are: The venue is fully accessible for wheelchair users. You can let us know about any access needs in the &#x27;additional information about your booking&#x27; question on the order form. Please book 2 tickets if you have a support worker or carer who will attend with you.
