BackgroundThe science is clear: the climate crisis is here. Millions of people are already facing the destructive consequences of a warming world and the IPCC&#x27;s most recent report is a reality check that it&#x27;s going to get much worse unless we take urgent action to cut emissions. Despite more than 75% of councils declaring a climate emergency, UK local authority pension funds still invest around £10bn in highly polluting fossil fuels. In 2022, it’s time councils act on the climate emergency, and end investments in fossil fuels for good! If you agree, come along on the 28 April to join the call for a future worth retiring into. Event detailsOn the 28th, we’ll hear from some amazing speakers on their fight to make their pensions fossil free, before splitting up into regional groups to; <ul><li>Find out who our council candidates are.</li><li>Lobby them to sign the pledge to divest their pension fund if elected.</li><li>Meet others working where we are to call for our local authority to stop investing in fossil fuels today.</li></ul>
