Charnwood Forest Geopark (UK) and the Discovery UNESCO Global Geopark (CAN)

Join us to celebrate the start of this special partnership between our two Geoparks in Canada and the United Kingdom

On behalf of both Geoparks, you are invited to the online launch event for the Sistership Agreement between the Discovery UNESCO Global Geopark in Canada, and the Charnwood Forest Geopark, UK.The new partnership between our two Geoparks builds on nearly 600 million years of shared geological history. While the two regions are now thousands of miles apart, they were once much closer together, and both tell important stories of the rise of early animal life. Through this Sistership, and the common endeavour of our communities, we will bring together in culture, science, education, and business, what the Atlantic Ocean has rifted apart.We hope you can join us to celebrate the beginning of this exciting partnership. The launch will feature an opportunity to learn about both regions, what the opportunities of the Sistership are, and also hear from young scientists about their recent fossil discoveries in the Geoparks. We will be joined by H.E. Laura Davies, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of United Kingdom to UNESCO, who will speak also on behalf of H.E.
