Children, Play & Place: Meaningful engagement with children &  young people

Play Scotland is the national play organisation which works to promote the importance of play for all children and young people. Play Scotland campaigns for improved and extended play opportunities in the community, and for all children and young people to have equal opportunities to participate in diverse and quality play experiences that meet their individual need. The organisation provides resources, guidance and training on the importance of play for all children and young people.Play Scotland’s work is underpinned by Article 31 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the UNCRC General Comment No17 (article 31),  which articulates “the need to create time and space for children to engage in spontaneous play, recreation and creativity, and to promote societal attitudes that support and encourage such activity.”

Introduction to engaging children and young people on their local place and decision making

<blockquote>Involving children and young people in decision making is vital to designing and planning for a better future. </blockquote><p>Play Scotland and A Place in Childhood are delighted to offer this introductory training on engaging children and young people on their local place.</p><h3>By attending this training you will gain:</h3><ul><li>Up to date knowledge and evidence on why engaging with children and young people is important</li></ul><ul><li>Information about different approaches to engage with children and young people</li><li>Practical advice on how to begin engaging with children and young people</li><li>Tips on how to garner authentic responses</li><li>Guidance on how to collate responses and utilise them effectively </li><li>A chance to discuss challenges and solutions with peers </li><li>A CPD certificate</li></ul>

<h3>The format of this workshop:</h3><ul><li>Short presentations with breaks to help with focus</li><li>Breakout activities including designing a mock engagement </li><li>Discussions and helpful tips for overcoming barriers</li><li>Question and Answer session</li></ul><h3>This training is designed for:</h3><ul><li>Practitioners who work directly with children and young people</li><li>Policymakers and planners who would like to involve children and young people in their work</li><li>People with an interest in play and planning</li></ul>

<h3>Refund Policy</h3><p>We will offer 100% refund if places are cancelled 5 working days in advance.
