LOOK UK and VICTA invite you to join us to discuss how to help your vision-impaired child feel less isolated and build a sense of belonging.

May is mental health awareness month. As part of our support for the parent carer community, on May 10th LOOK UK and VICTA will host a panel-led workshop to discuss the power of connection in alleviating and easing loneliness.We know that loneliness can affect our children and young people and can be a key driver of poor mental health for those with sight loss. Undeniably, community and connection are important for self-esteem and self-worth.Panel members, who will offer expert advice and guidance, include experienced Parent Carer Support Officer Jane Ring, Charlotte Mellor, VICTA’s Project and Programmes Officer, senior mentors from LOOK UK’s Mentor Programme, a VICTA Ambassador and mental health advocate, as well as members of the women’s British Blind Cricket team who wish to share their experience of finding solutions to prevent their own isolation.The workshop will be informative and full of tips on how you can support your children and help them connect and make friends.There will also be a follow-up session on May 18th where participants can share practical advice and tips based on their own experiences.Registration for this event closes 2 hours before the start time, at 17:30 GMT on Tuesday. You will be sent a link for the meeting two days beforehand and when registration closes.All LOOK online events are hosted on the Zoom platform.
