An art exhibition inspired by aperiodic tilings, including paintings, sculptures, musical art work and hands-on activities.

The aperiodic tilings exhibition will include artwork, sculptures, 3D printing, musical art and hands-on activities produced by academics and artists. The exhibition will be open to school parties and members of the public. Aperiodic tilings are mathematical tilings that have no periodic structure. They have deep mathematical properties which are used in physics to model quasicrystals.The exhibition and accompanying workshop will be open to the public from 3pm until 5pm on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th June. At 5pm each day there will be a talk from one of the exhibiting artists. Note: you can book onto a 3pm slot for entry between 3 and 4pm, or a 4pm slot for entry between 4 and 5pm. At 5pm you will be invited to listen to an artist&#x27;s talk (details below). You will not be able to walk around the exhibit or take part in the workshop activities whilst the artist talks take place, so make sure to arrive by 4.30pm to allow enough time to see all the exhibits beforehand. It is shown near the bottom of the Open University campus map.

Disabled visitors can park in Inner West Parking for easier access to the exhibition. Please contract charlotte.webb@open.ac.uk in advance to arrange for a parking space to be reserved for you.

The event will celebrate the research and public engagement work of Uwe Grimm, who died in Autumn 2021.
