The 2nd June is one of two Bank Holiday days in celebration of the Queen's Platinum (70th) Jubilee. We will enjoy a day trip to the Queen's Great Great Grandmother's holiday home, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.

We will take a one hour ferry boat journey from Southampton to the Isle of Wight and then walk up to Osborne House where we will spend the day.

Osborne House was completed in 1851 and used by Queen Victoria throughout her life. In the main house we will visit the grand State Rooms and the family rooms and then enjoy the Swiss Cottage and a small museum built for Queen Victoria's children, the gardens and private beach, where you can have a swim if you are brave enough to try our cold water.

As it is the Queen's Jubilee week there will be activites and sideshows for us to enjoy such as the traditional Punch and Judy show and traditional fairground rides like swingboats and a helter-skelter.

For those travelling from Southampton and Winchester, we will meet at the Southampton Red Funnel Ferry Ticket Office no later than 9.30am.

If you are travelling from Southampton the U1C bus runs from Wessex Lane Halls (08:27), via Highfield Campus Interchange (08:36), past Southampton Central Station (08:55), through the city centre and stops at Town Quay (09:01) right opposite the Red Funnel Ferry terminal.

If you are travelling from Winchester, you will need to take the train (08:27) to Southampton Central Station and then take the U1C bus (08:55) or Quay Connect bus from outside the station enrtance on Platform 4 side to Town Quay. You may want to buy a PlusBus ticket with your train ticket or if you have a 16-25 railcard you might want to buy a through ticket from Winchester to East Cowes which is valid on the train, bus and ferry and will be the cheapest way to travel. (If you buy a through ticket, then please book a ticket for entry to Osborne House only through eventbrite.)

We will return to Southampton on the 5.30pm ferry whch arrives back in Southampton at 6.30pm.

Student Ticket: £27.93 plus booking fee

Adult Ticket: £29.55 plus booking fee

If you are travelling from Portsmouth you will need to make your own way to Osborne House, we will be in touch with you once you have booked to help you choose transport options and let you know if others are travelling from Portsmouth.

Cost of entrance to Osborne House only with the group:

Student Ticket: £14.53 plus booking fee

Adult Ticket: £16.15 plus booking fee

Please note that you will need to pay for your own transport to the Ferry Terminal.
